Inner Landscapes (2017)

This series of anatomical paintings is a derivative of my latest series "Bones." This time I wanted to go further with my previous research by digging into the history of western anatomical art to inspire me. The diptychs put together an aesthetic borrowed from the first anatomists of the 16th century (more precisely Leonardo Da Vinci and André Vésale) alongside a visual signature that would look '' the most 2017 possible ''. The texts written alongside the sketches are taken from the work of André Vésale "De Humani Corporis Fabrica" ​​published in Brussels in 1543. The paintings on the right are inspired by what I absorbed when I visited 30 art galleries in Toronto last month (June 2017). With this new series, I try to tell a brief history of anatomical art, both ancient and contemporary, through several annotated studies. A clash of eras that fascinates me and which makes me want to push my research even further, with a new aesthetic approach and under new axes of analysis.​
